Kerala lies in between the Lakshadweep seas and the Western Ghats. Kerala is a state with lots of greenery and nature. It has rugged and cool mountains, rolling hills (central midlands) and coastal plains. Western Ghats are riched in Flora and Fauna. It is to be said that 10,000 plant spices are found in Kerala itself, which have 4000 spices in flowering plants and 900 medicinal plants. This state is exporting the spices since 3000 B.C. especially Pepper.

Kerala is a state where people migrate significantly from other part of country. Culture of the state is a mixer of two states, Tamil heritage region (Tamilakam) and Southern coastal Karnataka.
